High Tatras are the smallest alpine mountain ranges in the world and
due to its marvellous scenery they are the most attractive touristic destination in
Slovakia.

Tatranská Štrba is about 6 km outside Štrbské Pleso , which is the highest settlement on the west side of High Tatras (in the altitude ~1350 m). Štrbské Pleso was the place of 1970 World Championship in Nordic events. Middle of December is "official" start of the skiing season in High Tatras but starting at December will be with very large probability (the weather conditions in High Tatras changes often rapidly) to have the good snow and skiing conditions on the hills around the lake Štrbské Pleso.
