1. Scientific programme

The official programme will start on September 7 (Monday).

Up to now, the following six invited speakers indicated their interest to give a talk.

Jaroslav Kurzweil (Prague, Czechia),
Paolo de Lucia (Naples, Italy),
Ivo Marek (Prague, Czech Republik),
Tomasz Natkaniec (Gdansk, Poland) and
Wladyslaw Wilczynski (Lodz, Poland).

All invited lectures are 45 minutes and contributed talks are 15--20 minutes.

The official programme will be closed on September 11 (Friday) at noon.

2. Proceedings and Abstracts

The contributions have been planned to be published in a special issue of the Tatra Mountains Mathematical Publications which will serve as conference proceedings. All contributions will be refered as usual. The detailed instruction will be given during the conference.

The organizers plan to publish a booklet of Abstracts, which is considered as an active participation at the conference, and will be distributed at the beginning of the conference.

The one-page abstract should contain: title of the contribution, name(s) and address(es) of the author(s) (including e-mail address(es)), succinct statement of the problem and the result achieved. Authors are encouraged to use e-mail, preparing a single file version of abstract using AmSTeX (document style amsppt) or LaTeX (document style article), but other possibilities for the surface mail are not excluded.

The deadline for receipt of abstracts is June 30, 1998.

3. Arrival

Participants are expected to arrive on September 6 (Sunday). The registration desk will be located in the Main Foyer of the hotel and will be open from 2.00 p.m. During the conference there will be somebody available at the desk at all times.

If you want to arrive earlier please, let us know and we will try to arrange the accommodation.

4. Transportation

You can reach Liptovsky Mikulas by train:

from Bratislava - Zilina - direction Kosice (it's about 300 km);
from Kosice - direction Bratislava or Prague (it's about 170 km).

Liptovsky Jan can be reached by bus from Liptovsky Mikulas (about 10 kilometers). The bus station in Liptovsky Mikulas is adjacent to the railway station. The buses leave from the platform 11 in almost every hour.

You should get off at the final stop "Dumbier". The fare is approximately 10 Sk (Slovak crowns) and should be paid to the bus driver.

The Hotel Stavoindustria is situated near the bus terminal (1,200 m) at the beginning of the "Janska dolina" (Jan Valley).

We are very sorry but at this moment we are not able to give you more detailed information about train/bus arrivals and departures. Every year at the beginning of June, some modifications in timetables are made. The detailed timetable (bus, train) will be sent to you in the third (last) announcement at the beginning of June.

5. Accommodation

The accommodation and meals are arranged in the same hotel as the conference.

There are double rooms (with a shower and WC) and double rooms with a bath and WC for every pair of rooms. For an extra payment it is possible (for a limited number of participants) to have a suite. The charge for a suite from Sunday (September 6) to Friday (September 11) is 1,000 Sk in addition to the normal price.

It will also be possible to stay in the hotel several days before or after the conference (please, let us know in advance).

6. Social Events

The National Park surrounding Liptovsky Jan provides outstanding tourist possibilities. Swimming pool with thermal water is available in the village. There are also tennis-courts adjacent to the hotel, located itself in the forest.

A half-day excursion to Orava castle is planned on Wednesday afternoon (September 9). A bus will be available for those who wish to take part.

On Tuesday evening (September 8) a get-together party is planned.

7. Payment

The total cost of the conference will be 160 US$ and includes accommodation, full board and the conference fee. Conference fee covers proceedings, conference materials, refreshment, party and excursion. Because of special arrangement, no adjustment can be made to the price if a participant arrives late or leaves early. You will be asked to pay at the registration desk. Payment in Slovak crowns or German marks is also possible (1 US$ = 35 Sk; for an accompanying person the charge is 100 US$).
