| Name: | Grinding and wet magnetic separation of secondary serpentine raw material |
| Duration: | 01/2004-06/2004 |
| (Co) Investigator: | Dipl. Ing. Slavomir HREDZAK, PhD. |
| Results: | The kinetics of dry grinding of serpentine material in a ceramic ball mill was observed with the aim to win the ground products by required grain size. The wet low – intensity magnetic separation of grinding products at various grade of grain opening was realised. |

| Name: | Potencial feldspar raw materials in mountains Slovenske rudohorie, Strazovske vrchy and Branisko and their bio-chemical processing |
| Duration: | 01/2002-12/2003 |
| (Co) Investigator: | Dipl. Ing. Iveta STYRIAKOVA, PhD. |
| Results: | Bio-chemical processes of raw materials leaching in combination with electromagnetic separation enabled significantly improve the quality of feldspar raw materials. There was achieved 35 - 41% decrease of Fe content in raw material from Stráľovské vrchy by bio-chemical leaching and by subsequent using of electromagnetic separation, the decrease of Fe content in 69 - 74% was achieved. From the second raw material, granite from Poproc, there was removed 60% of Fe by bioleaching of this material despite the highest content of Fe2O3. In combination with electromagnetic separation, there was achieved 75% decrease of Fe content. Smelting of samples of white colour guarantee the high quality of raw material after use of bio-chemical leaching of raw materials in combination with electromagnetic separation. Exercise of biotechnology also in these industry kinds increases the interest of research because of economical and ecological reasons. All is dependent on the reaction and courage of industry to use also non-conventional ways of processing which are in the world for feldspar raw materials not used yet or they are kept as secret. |

| Name: | The bioaccumulation of heavy metals from water by bacteria and wood - rooting fungi |
| Duration: | 01/2002-12/2003 |
| (Co) Investigator: | Dipl. Ing. Alena LUPTAKOVA, PhD. |
| Results: | The project was focused on the development of some laboratory and microbiology methods used for the isolation and cultivation of S- and Fe-oxidising bacteria, sulphate-reducing bacteria and wood-rooting fungi. The contribution of this project for Slovak research team was the obtaining new knowledge in the area of the bioaccumulation mechanism of heavy metals by microorganisms from waters, theoretical and practical mycology, methods of classical genetics and new techniques of molecular-biology used for microorganisms identification, theoretical and practical experience of the electrophoretic determination of proteins, (6 publications in CC journal, 14 publications in proceedings). |
