| Name: | Formation and Formation and effective utilization of biomass and wastes for demands of civil engineering, energetics and other industrial branches |
| Duration: | 01/2003-12/2005 |
| (Co) Investigator: | (Dr. Jan BEJDA, PhD.) |
| Results: | The grant task research has provided a study of pellets production from various types of biomass, both single and coal-combined. The pellet density dependence on compacting pressure and temperature has been studied, as well as the pellet density change depending on the storage time. Derivation thermal analysis methods and thermogravimetric analysis have been assigned as useful for the study of carbonaceous materials compositions, for the determination of their volatile and non-volatile compounds. | Name: | Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials prepared by non-traditional methods from metal-based and raw materials precursors |
| Duration: | 08/2002-07/2005 |
| (Co) Investigator: | Prof. Dr. Peter BALAZ, DSc. |
| Results: | The research was intent on the preparation of PbS nanocrystalline nanoparticles in a laboratory mill without and with addition of a soluble salt, in our case sodium acetate. The salt matrix can be removed by washing with watter. X-ray analysis, specific surface area measurement, granulometric analysis, UV-VIS spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used for characterization of microstructure and surface properties of mechanochemically synthesized PbS particles. Based on the above mentioned comparative study it can be established that by addition of sodium acetate the specific surface area and the average particle size of PbS are influenced. The SEM analysis confirmed higher homogeneity and a reducing agglomeration effect of PbS nanoparticles prepared by above mentioned method (4 publications in CC journals, 2 publications in NCC journals, 2 publications in proceedings). |
