| Duration: | 01/1999-12/2001 |
| (Co) Investigator: | Assoc. Prof. Dipl. Ing. Maria KUSNIEROVA, PhD. |
| Results: | The development of the discontinuously and continuously methods of the precipitation of heavy metals with the sulphate-reducing bacteria from the model solutions and the real waste water (mine water and liquid phase from bioleaching sulphide minerals). The continuously method was realized in three stages (the production of H2S - the precipitation of metals - the separation of precipitates). This method was removed from the solution 95-98% of heavy metals with H2S, which was produced by the sulphate-reducing bacteria. |

| Name: | Magnetic Sorbents for Removal of Radionuclides and Heavy Metal from Wastes |
| Duration: | 01/1999-12/2000 |
| (Co) Investigator: | (Dip. Ing. Stefan JAKABSKY, PhD. - Investigator UGt SAV) |
| Results: | The magnetic sorbents and their application in heterogeneous systems such as suspensions, where they can be specifically removed in a magnetic field were studied. The residues of leached iron-nickel laterite ores at the former Sered (Slovakia) hydrometallurgical plant were found to be a suitable magnetic sorbent for the removal of radionuclides and heavy metals (Cs, Eu, Pb, Sr, ...) from water suspensions and wastewaters. |
