Štrbské Pleso is the highest settlement on the west side of High Tatras (the place of 1970 World Championship in Nordic events located in the altitude of ~1350 m) and is also the highest climate spa in Slovak Republic. Štrbské Pleso is located at the heart of the National Park of High Tatras (TANAP) and this community is named after alpine lake Štrbské Pleso.

The workshop will take place in three neighbouring hotels : hotel FIS and hotel Helios with hotel Patria in between. Hotels are some 5-7 minutes of quiet walk apart and also within walking distance (~1 km) of the train station (Tatra Electric Railways to Starý Smokovec / Poprad and cog wheel railway to Štrba). The plenary sessions will take place in Congress Hall of hotel Patria with conference office nearby. The parallel sessions will take place in two equipped seminar rooms of each of the three hotels.

9 Linux desktop computers connected to Internet via 1 Mbyte/sec dedicated leased line will be available for DIS 2004 participants in hotel Patria lobby near the conference office to reach the home Institutes. To log in follow the instructions attached to each computer.

Unfortunately due to the exclusive contract of hotel Patria with Eurotel we are not allowed to install our WLAN server/hot spot to provide Wi-Fi connection for DIS 2004 participants. Instead of this we plan to provide some 10-20 standard cable connections in hotel Patria lobby using dedicated DHCP server, which should allow you to connect your notebook to Internet via our dedicated leased line. If you nevertheless would like to use WLAN connection through Eurotel you can buy the voucher at hotel reception for 396 Slovak crowns / 1 hour (~10 Euro / 1 hour).

In conference office 2 scanners will be available to digitize especially the presentations available only on transparencies for the web publishing after workshop.

Also b/w PostScript printer will be available in conference office. There will be limited possibility to print b/w transparencies and only very limited / emergency possibility to print also the color transparency.
