On the way from Spišská Belá to Ždiar and Poland you can find the
village Tatranská Kotlina - it's the starting point to the
Belianska cave. The only public open cave in this territory is interesting from
several points of view. The entry is 885 m above the sea level. It was found
at the end of the 18th century and open to public already in 1882. Only 12 years
after T.A.Edison invented the light bulb, in 1896 the cave was illuminated by 165 light
bulbs. There are several wonderful halls in the cave - the music hall, the palm
hall... At present a 1135 m long walk can be experienced when visiting the cave.
