Spišská Belá

The catolic St. Antony's church with the belfry renaissance belfry Spišská Belá - at the intersection of four important roads - from Kežmarok, Stará Ľubovňa, Spisšská Nová Ves and Lysá Poľana (from Poland). The first written record dates from 1263, in 1271 they received the town's rights. In the past Spišská Belá was known with annual markets and its crafts. Craftsmen from here were known wide around - Renaissance belfry a quality linen textile from this town was exported also to Turkey.

In the town there is a nice main square with burgher's houses originally dated from 17.-18th century. In its middle stays the catholic St. Anthony's church with parts from the 13th century. Some of the paintings from the original main altar are exhibit in the museum of Budapest. Next to the church there is a renaissance belfry from the 16th century and on the other side the Petzval's museum (inventor from the field of photography).
