Dear Participants: 
 
Few notes concerning your travel to the High Tatras, which might be of
importance:

1. Please check whether you need your passport for the entry to Slovakia
or whether your ID-card will be sufficient. Since Slovakia is not yet a
member of the Schengen states, it could be necessary to have your
passport with you. 

2. In Slovakia the official currency is still Slovakian Crowns and not
Euro. It is possible to change money in the hotels, but at a worse rate
of exchange. We therefore advise you to change money either at the
airport or at the train station. Or to change money in your home
country. 

3. The weather starts to be cold in High Tatras. 
Because of new snow, the avalanche warning level 3 (considerable danger) is
issued in High Tatras, so we are not considering any hiking trail to be
organized. And we do not recommend to plan any such trial.

4. The forest on various parts of High Tatras  were considerably damaged by
the whirlwind on Friday. The damaged areas are fortunately for us not around
the Strba village. 
But the internal transport within Tatras is still restricted. with no current 
estimation of the progress.
