Overview and introductory talks
Some overview of the present status and lessons from other experiments will be presented
Srini Rajagopalan  and   Sanya Solodkov
Electronic calibration
The electronics calibration session will cover the signal reconstruction, the performance of the calibration (LARG and tiles) during the 2004 combined run, the forseen calibration procedure for the commissioning phase and for ATLAS (uniformity, timing alignement...). It is also forseen to review the calibration of LVL1.
Isabelle Wingerter
EM calibration
From cells to calibrated e/gamma
  • review of software
  • experience from test beam
  • energy corrections: how to derive them, how to extrapolate from test beam to Atlas, MC needs
  • going from electrons to photons, impact of dead matter
  • position and angle measurements
Guillame Unal
HAD calibration
HAD calibration session main focus will be on the following topics:
  • cluster reconstruction, identification, energy corrections
  • weighting scheme: experience with MC using calibration hits (single pions, jets)
  • testbeam results: H8 and H6 (EMEC/HEC + EMEC/HEC/FCAL) data
    • comparison with MC simulation
    • GEANT 4 validation
    • weighting scheme from MC pions
Peter Schacht
In situ + commisionning
This session is aimed at exposing all the methods that are envisaged to check and set the absolute scale calibration of the calorimeters using physics events, after their electromagnetic scale will have been set. These methods include the use of the mass constraint of the Z–>ee for the EM calorimeter and the W–>jet jet or the balance in transverse momentum between a Z(gamma) and a jet for the hadronic calorimeters. Furthermore, the possibility to check the calibration using cosmics or events typical of the initial commissioning phase of the detector will be examined.
Irene Vichou
Summary and plans
The session should summarize the status of the energy calibration project, the progress reached, and outline the plans for the next years in this field.
