Location, Access, and Visa

The site of the conference is the Academia congress centre (see photo) in Stará Lesná. Stará Lesná is located close (~ 5 km) to the world-known mountain-ski and tourist resorts, the Starý Smokovec and the Tatranská Lomnica. Another beautiful resort within easy range is Skalnaté Pleso (1751 m a.s.l.) offering a glamorous trip from the Lomnické Sedlo (2200 m a.s.l.) down to Tatranská Lomnica (950 m a.s.l.).

Many possibilities are available for accompanying persons. For daily tours, the region provides a lot of beautiful places, e.g. the visit of the medieval town Levoča, in the past the capital of Spiš Saxons, with the famous Majster Pavel wooden altar in St. Jakob’s church, which is the world's tallest wooden altar, the castle of Spiš - the largest castle of Central Europe (UNESCO sight), the church in Žehra (UNESCO relic), caves in Demänovská Valley, etc. The region of High and Low Tatra Mountains provides great opportunities for tourist trips. The weather in the September is considered the best for trips as it is usually calm and stable. The thermal aquapark with 13 outdoor and indoor swimming pools AquaCity Poprad is just 14 km from Stará Lesná.
